Feel the fear... and wax it anyway!
pre-wax advice
- remove dead skin cells using a mild exfoliator - including the bikini area for intimate waxing
- please allow for approx. 3 weeks hair growth as hair is most effectively removed at 3-5mm
- clients who are diabetic, suffer from psoriasis, eczema or other skin conditions, as well as those taking or who have taken retinol or accutane in the previous 6 months are not suitable for waxing – if you are unsure about your suitability for waxing or have any questions please ring or email prior to booking
- please shower prior to treatment – cleansing wipes are available also for intimate treatments
- once you wax you’ll never go back! yes, waxing may cause mild discomfort but the effects are well worth it – you will enjoy smooth, hair-free skin with finer & sparser regrowth. clients report reduced discomfort with subsequent treatments
aftercare
avoid any of the following for 24 hours post-waxing
- uv exposure
- hot showers / baths / saunas / steam rooms
- chlorinated water
- fake tan, deodorants, perfumed lotions/creams
- exercise and/or excessive perspiration
- friction/direct contact
- tight clothing*
- sexual activity (for intimate waxing only)
ingrown hair
an ingrown hair after waxing occurs when the hair grows back into the skin. most commonly it occurs in areas where there the hair is thick and/or curly, e.g. male hair or on the female bikini line
lightly exfoliating 24 hours after waxing, and continuing to do so a couple times a week will help keep dead skin cells out of the follicle so when the hair does start coming back, this helps it to point up instead of going back into the skin
preventing ingrown hairs after waxing before they appear is much easier than tackling the redness and bumps later on . this is why we recommend using pfb vanish - an anti-septic, anti-inflammatory & anti-bacterial product which also contains a mild exfoliant that lifts the ingrown hair to the surface.
for female intimate waxing we recommend that pfb vanish gel treatment is applied to the bikini area for 3 days post brazilian/hollywood waxing as the effect can be ruined if you get ingrown hairs & bumps. this product is applied after your treatment and is also available to purchase for aftercare at home
*not only can tight clothes irritate freshly waxed areas, weeks later it can encourage the hair to grow back into the skin causing ingrown hairs
